Hunsley Primary Newsletter – 22 February 2026

I really hope that you all have had a lovely half term and that the children are raring to go with the new week ahead. We are all looking forward to seeing everyone again. There is a feeling of warmer weather in the air, perhaps even the early steps towards Spring!

I wanted to say a really big ‘Thank you’ and ‘Well done’ to Miss Hepburn, Mrs Gale and the South Hunsley Dancing Team, who delivered an amazing morning of dance demonstrations and workshops last week. The Hunsley Primary children also performed their own dance routines to a special audience, too. What a brilliant opportunity all-round to celebrate the creativity and skill of dance. Can’t wait for the next one!

This week, the Hunsley Primary Parent Partners are launching ‘Challenge 26’. You might recall how well the children and their families engaged with Challenge 25, and how the HPPPs raised considerable funds towards school activities and resources last year. As you might know, the team are currently progressing with ordering the Trim Trail which will be built at the back of the school. We are really excited about this! Challenge 26 gives the children a chance to take part in a fundraising event their own way, setting themselves a challenge, working towards their own goal and having their hard work and input recognised by the HPPPs in a special Celebration Assembly. Laura Butcher, of the HPPPs, will be coming into school to launch the Challenge in assembly at the start of the new half term! Good luck to everyone taking part: we know you will do an amazing job!

As the half term progresses, I will be in touch with you all about the next consultation events and Progress Evenings and Progress Reports. We will continue to offer some face-to-face meetings and some online, to suit families, as requested in your feedback.

We also have our annual consultation for Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) and Personal, Social, Health and Economic education (PSHE) coming up, where you can ask questions, find out about curriculum we teach and learn more about the new national changes announced in 2025 for the teaching of PSHE / RSHE which come into place in 2026. We will continue to use the Jigsaw curriculum, to be sure that we are teaching a nationally awarded and benchmarked programme of high-quality resources. To find out more generally about Jigsaw, why not follow this link: Jigsaw

Please can I take this opportunity to wish you all a super half term ahead and to thank you for supporting your children and the school in all we do. Please can I encourage parents and carers to visit our Policies page on the website, to make sure you have all the information you need.

Yours sincerely,
