The Importance of Reading

The importance of reading for children and adults alike deserves its own page on our website!

At Hunsley Primary, we encourage reading fluency and confidence from the very first moment we meet the children in pre-school and talk to them about the books and stories they enjoy.

All children are given a Reading Record which contains advice for families about supporting reading at home and on these pages, we include a range of links which will help you support your child to become a life-long reader.

We use Pearson Active Learn for our ongoing reading scheme, but this is only a part of the story of reading at Hunsley Primary. Why not start your investigation into reading by clicking on the links below to take you through some interesting and useful guidance. Some of these resources can be shared with your child too.
