Last week, the children were busier than ever, creating scarecrows, planting herbs, singing with our Sixth Form volunteers, enjoying a visit to the Dance Studio at South Hunsley and practising their friendship skills by remembering our Hunsley Primary Playtime Values.
We decided upon these through assembly, TalkTime and discussion as a school, having asked the children themselves what would make them happiest at playtime. Year 1 revisited the British Values which we discussed last year, then created a special Team Agreement to model kind and respectful play in everything they do. As a team of staff, we have very much enjoyed seeing the positive and team-spirited interaction between Reception and Year 1, which includes the time they spend together at lunchtimes and in Building Bricks too. We thought you might like to read our Playtime Values:
1 We are a TEAM: look out for children on their own and INCLUDE them
2 RESPECT everyone’s feelings and ideas and LISTEN to what they say
3 FOLLOW THE RULES: stay where your teacher can see you – be SAFE
4 PLAY KINDLY with your hands, feet, voices and words too
5 TAKE TURNS and PLAY FAIRLY: everyone is free to have a go
