
Rachel joined us in 2015, to work on the initial development of the new school. Trained specifically in the Early Years teaching specialism, Rachel brings a wealth of skills, experience and excellent Foundation Stage knowledge to the team. Rachel was at the very heart of the class team achieving an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted judgement for Early Years in 2018. Rachel also held a significant role beyond the school, leading the 3-7 years programme delivered by the Yorkshire Wolds SCITT team, co-ordinating and training ITTs in the Infant phase, and contributed to the SCITT achieving its ‘Outstanding’ status.
Rachel is the Assistant Headteacher, with responsibility for EYFS Leadership and transition in the infant years (Reception and KS1) and also whole school, for supporting Disadvantaged Children and leading the school’s provision for closing gaps and raising achievement. Rachel was designated ‘Expert Teacher’ in 2020. As an Expert Teacher at Hunsley Primary, Rachel is an experienced teacher, mentor and curriculum leader, working with Kirsty Wicks (English Lead) and Billy Sloan (Maths Lead) to support the delivery of early reading, maths and phonics across the school.
Rachel works closely with Lucy Hudson (Headteacher) to develop strong transition processes and supportive relationships with our families from when our children are babies to the start of Key Stage 2.
Qualified in BA(Hons) Primary Education, 3 – 7 Years Specialism QTS – York St. John University
Rachel currently also leads Art across the whole school.
